The Centre’s Final Report (Phase 1)

The first phase of the Centre’s work was completed in April 2008. This phase began in October 2006 when the Centre was first created. The Final Report of phase 1 details the achievements of the Centre, including the creation of our Workforce Development Toolkit. Please be aware that the documents contained in the annexes of the Final Report (Phase 1) have been updated since the Report was written. Workforce Development Group

Formed in 2005 by the Welsh Assembly Government, the Workforce Development Group consists of Substance Misuse lead officers, Welsh Assembly Government officials, Sector Skills Councils, voluntary sector substance misuse services, training providers, and the Centre.

Management Development

A key area of activity for the Welsh Assembly Government Substance Misuse Branch is the development of skills for managers in the substance misuse field. During November 2007, WAG commissioned a piece of research that collected information on all the qualifications that were available for managers in the substance misuse field to undertake. This resulted in the formation of a database which can be viewed and searched by following the link below.

Training Plans Project

The Training Plans Project group was formed to develop tangible examples of good practise relating to workforce development to the substance misuse field. Consisting of the Centre's Development Officers and three representatives from services, the function of the group is to contribute to the development of tools created by the Centre and to facilitate the test and trial of these tools.
